Students learn about the sport and leisure industry and develop skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to pursue a career in sport and active leisure; learning about the broad range of careers within sport and leisure and being able to experience and access some of them during the course. These will include media in sport, leisure services, sports science and technology, leadership, customer services and how people can access sport and active leisure. There will also be the opportunity of a work placement in order to gain knowledge about the industry and help with making decision about potential career pathways.
Tibshelf Community School
Staff have excellent knowledge and experience of each area of learning as well as access to appropriate facilities to deliver high quality lessons. Visits and placements are a key part of the course as well as access to learning through employer engagement.
All of the requirements of the Diploma must be passed including the Project, PLTs (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills) and the three Functional skills in English, Maths and ICT. The final grade will be calculated using by combining the grades for the principal learning and the project.
