What is the course about?

The qualification will give you a broad, practical experience of the construction sector and will help you to decide which occupation you prefer. It will give you some experience in your chosen occupation and hence a good start to your occupation specific training.

What is the course content?

Students must complete 8 units to obtain the full qualification –
these include units in:-

  • Health and Safety
  • Working with others
  • Bricklaying
  • Painting and Decorating


How will it be taught?

Through practical demonstrations and hands on experience in a workshop and through underpinning knowledge (Theory) in a classroom – there are also on-line tests to pass.



How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through coursework, demonstrating your practical skills, portfolio evidence and by a written examination.



What can I do when I have completed the course?

Depending on your achievement you can:

  • Progress to a post 16 Apprenticeship with a local training provider
  • Go into 6th form
